Development Director Position Available

Work from home for a groundbreaking charity!

The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation (FTPF) is an award-winning international nonprofit charity dedicated to planting fruitful trees and plants to alleviate world hunger, combat global warming, and improve the surrounding air, soil, and water. FTPF programs strategically donate orchards where the harvest will best serve communities for generations, at places such as public schools, homeless shelters, drug rehabs, low-income neighborhoods, international hunger relief sites, and animal sanctuaries. FTPF’s unique mission, which has been featured in major publications such as The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times and The Hindu, benefits the environment, human health, and animal welfare—all at once!

FTPF has an exciting development director position available, which also includes media relations and public speaking duties, offering an opportunity to join a unique organization working a diverse set of tasks while traveling to interesting locations (including tree planting opportunities). Position Objectives:

Manage and develop existing donor relations, discover prospective donors, and maintain excellent relations with both through in-person meetings, teleconferencing, correspondence, and other effective fund-raising techniques

Identify fundraising opportunities and solicit donations from corporations, foundations, and grants (grantwriting experience a plus)

Write compelling text for promotional materials, including annual reports and appeal letters

Maintain donor and fundraising databases and manage outreach strategies accordingly

Stay up to date on current fundraising techniques and methods used in the nonprofit sector

Develop the organization’s visibility through the writing of press releases, media relations, and other media-related efforts

Serve as an official spokesperson for FTPF in the media and at various events and public speaking opportunities

Use excellent presentation skills to develop an inspirational talk about FTPF that can be presented at various events and during networking

Terms of Employment:

Full-time, work from home office option available

Salary ranges from $33,000 - $38,000, respectively, depending on qualifications and experience, with room for future growth

Reports to Executive Director

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Researching, identifying, and successfully following through with fundraising opportunities with donors, corporate sponsors, and grants (emphasis on grantwriting)

Media spokesperson and outreach tasks, including writing/distributing press releases and completing media interviews

Public speaking tasks, including talking about FTPF at various events

Various tasks, as assigned, including clerical tasks as requested by supervisor

Qualifications:

Degree in a related field or professional experience with grantwriting, nonprofit fundraising, and media relations

Commitment to the objectives of the organization and the ability to promote them in an effective and professional manner in order to meet annual fundraising goals

Excellent written, verbal communication, oral presentation, computer, and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail in all matters

Arboricultural or horticultural knowledge/experience a plus but not required

Ability to learn new duties and responsibilities quickly and handle multiple projects at once

Ability to travel frequently to interesting locations

Ability to work independently and use discretion in confidential matters relating to donors
