Sustainability is Beautiful! The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation (FTPF) is proud to announce a new partnership with international beauty products company, Davines, whose commitment to minimizing their environmental impact spans from the ethically sourced natural ingredients in their products to their eco-friendly headquarters in Parma, Italy.
In keeping with their dedication to environmental responsibility, Davines has joined forces with FTPF, to launch the first Sustainable Beauty Day. By planting fruit trees in communities worldwide, FTPF elevates an environmental project to the level of social sustainability—a beautiful fit for Davines.

For one special day, June 20, 2011—many salons that feature Davines products will offer their clients cut and styling services free of charge. Each client will be encouraged to make a $15 minimum donation and 100% of the proceeds will benefit FTPF. Davines and FTPF are raising funds for a new fruit tree planting initiative called Sustainabilitree, set to launch in the Sofala Province of Mozambique, Africa.
Please put it on your calendar to support FTPF by visiting a participating salon on June 20, a list of which can be found here.
About Sustainabilitree
This exciting new collaboration with Davines will allow FTPF and its planting partner, CleanStar Mozambique, to begin our first orchard project in Mozambique this winter. We will collectively work in the Beira Corridor, known as a major thoroughfare to all of Southeastern Africa, extending from the port of Beira eastwards towards Zimbabwe and north towards Zambia and Malawi. The land and forests along the roads and railways of the corridor have been severely degraded.
We will work with families, schools, clinics, and community centers in the community of Savane, a settlement comprised of about 1,200 families, who are nearly all subsistence farmers with per capita cash income of less than $1 per day. FTPF and CleanStar Mozambique will plant large community owned orchards at various facilities in the area, along with helping small-holder farmers establish their own organic orchards, helping these impoverished families help themselves.
Stay tuned for project updates and stories from Mozambique this winter!
Warmest regards,
Cem Akin, Executive Director
