Staff Arborist Position Available:

The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation (FTPF) is an award-winning international nonprofit charity dedicated to planting fruitful trees and plants to alleviate world hunger, combat global warming, and improve the surrounding air, soil, and water. FTPF has an exciting staff arborist position available, offering a unique opportunity to travel to interesting locations to manage the planting of fruit trees to benefit communities. Some of our supporters have called this a DREAM job for the right person.

Position Objectives:

*To provide onsite arboricultural expertise and management for FTPF projects, including all aspects of project planning and implementation (requires excellent knowledge of pomology)
*To serve as an official spokesperson for FTPF in the media, and at various events and public speaking opportunities (requires excellent public speaking skills)
*To work on development issues such as grantwriting and fundraising based on completed projects (requires excellent technical writing skills)

Terms of Employment:

*Full-time, work from home office option available (preferably within California)
*Salary range between $33,000 - $38,000, depending on qualifications and experience
*Reports to Executive Director

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

*All aspects of project planning and implementation including, but not limited to, identifying suitable project locations, designing orchard layouts, mobilizing labor force, planning logistics, and implementation of planting
*Public speaking and media spokesperson tasks
*Grantwriting, fundraising, and development tasks, as assigned
*Various tasks, as assigned, including clerical tasks as requested by supervisor

Qualifications:

*ISA arborist certification, advanced pomology/arboriculture degree, or equivalent, with expertise and practical experience planting and caring for fruit trees
*Excellent written, oral communication, computer, and organizational skills
*Ability to make sound, independent judgments and manage a project budget
*Ability to learn new duties and responsibilities quickly and handle multiple projects at once
*Ability to travel frequently to project locations
*Commitment to the objectives of the organization and the ability to promote them in a professional manner
